The BU14 Herndon Cyclones scored a historic first place finish at the Columbia Fall Classic thanks to goals from Rearguard Charlie and Trojan playmaker Ally Medina. The coaching staff coached them all through the weekend as players on both sides stepped up and contributed. Check out their results HERE.
Herndon dominated the field, going undefeated during Group Play at the CU19 Discovery Cup on October 21, 2019. Their three-game slate included a 3-0 forfeit victory over Newton C.C., a 6-2 win over a 1A team, and a dominating 6-0 victory over Pomona C.C. Their midfields were reliable, and strong position-setting by the defensive midfields forced the other team to bring their full strength. Reliable as ever, Herndon's forwards found the back of the net more than the opposition could handle. More than half of Herndon's game-winning goals (14) were netted by their forwards. The key offoridders are Shannon Lambert and Elise Mercado. Check out their players and results HERE.
From a wet and miserable morning to a cold but sunny afternoon, the GU9 Herndon Thunderbirds breezed through their first two games at the CU19 Discovery Cup. Their 1-0 over Cambridge C.C. in the opening game, and a 3-3 tie vs. HABC in the second game allowed them to rebound from a very tough first day of play. The three GU14 Cyclones earned the switch to the GU15 black pool.
That's it for this week! If you're interested in joining the Thunderbirds next time around, don't hesitate to join the beta group or take a look at our website to see how things are going. We'll see you at BU20!
This article says a new survey shows traditional media like newspapers and magazines still attract most of the traffic from readers, but that younger people are using apps like Google Docs to create new kinds of text-based content.
The survey also showed that many of the most-read news stories are about scientific research and technology. Residents of Phoenix showed a preference for the print edition of The Arizona Republic. Consumers prefer local news to national news, and local news always ranks first among those who prefer reading the news online. Phoenix and Tucson do particularly well on the local front. d2c66b5586
