The Bunnyman is an urban legend that probably originated from two incidents in Fairfax County, Virginia in 1970, but has been spread throughout the Washington D.C. area. There are many variations to the legend, but most involve a man wearing a rabbit costume (\"bunny suit\") who attacks people with an axe.
Story variations include the origin of the Bunnyman, names, motives, weapons, victims, description of the bunny suit or lack thereof, and the possible death of the Bunnyman. In some accounts, victims' bodies are mutilated.
While Bob insisted he was wearing a white suit with long bunny ears, both remembered seeing his face clearly, but in the darkness they could not determine his race. Phillips said the man was wearing a gray, black, and white bunny suit and was about 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches (1.73 m) tall, and weighed about 175 pounds (79 kg).
A photograph showing a man in a bunny mask dragging a woman into a building has been circulating around the internet since at least 2010. While the photograph is often associated with the claim that it was found by the FBI behind a dumpster in Georgia in 1982 and served as a piece of evidence in an open investigation, this is not that the case.
The above-displayed photograph was taken around 2010 by photographer Eliot Lee Hazel as part of his Poppy Field Gang collection. The man in the bunny mask, as well as the woman in the chicken mask, can be seen in several other photos in this collection:
Once the clock strikes twelve, you summon the infamous serial killer, the Bunny Man, by saying his name three times. His ghost appears in a white bunny suit stained with blood. He wields an ax and hates trespassers.
The first incident occurred in the Kings Park area of Fairfax County on Oct. 22, 1970. Air Force Academy Cadet Robert Bennett parked his car with a date in the woods when a man in a bunny costume ran up to the car and accused the couple of trespassing and smashed a window with an axe.
In 2001, after hearing the tale, six local students and a guide searched the area. They found mutilated bunny parts during their search and left the forest after they heard noises and saw figures moving around in the woods.
He created the quintet of whimsical bunny-men, their hands wrapped securely around the stone parapet, who peer down at passers-by from the rooftop of a building on O.C. Haley Boulevard. He also was responsible for the pair of rabbit/humans who sprawl on their stomachs in front of the plate glass windows in the lobby of the Saratoga Building on Loyola Avenue.
On July 4th, 1997, two college students took a drive up into the mountains to watch the fireworks show. Things took a turn for the worst when they crossed paths with an axe murderer dressed in a bunny costume.
The urban legend of the Bunny Man and Bunny Man Bridge has been around for several decades. Starting in the 1970s, people began seeing the Bunny Man in horrifying situations. While there are lots of varying details to the story, the legend remains the same at its core. According to the legend, a man dressed in a bunny costume would appear under a bridge in Fairfax County, Virginia, brandishing an ax or a similar weapon and attacking people.
Donnie Darko connects a unique horror story with the state of Virginia and its most famous urban legend. Throughout the film, Donnie experiences \"daylight hallucinations\" with an ominous figure dressed up in a bunny suit called Frank (James Duval) giving him clues about the near future and Donnie's fears. Frank tells him that the world will end in \"28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, 12 seconds,\" which coincidentally is on Halloween in the film.
As they sat in the front seat with the motor running, they noticed something moving outside the rear window. Moments later, the front passenger window was smashed, and there was a white-clad figure standing near the broken window. Bennett turned the car around while the man screamed at them about trespassing, including: \"You're on private property, and I have your tag number.\" As they drove down the road, the couple discovered a hatchet on the car floor. When the police requested a description of the man, Bennett insisted he was wearing a white suit with long bunny ears. However, Bennett's fiancée contested that their assailant did not have bunny ears on his head, but was wearing a white capirote of some sort.
In 2001, after hearing the tale, six local students and a guide searched the area only to find mutilated bunny parts during their search. They soon left the forest after they heard noises and caught glimpses of figures in the woods.
The Fairfax urban legend has even shown up in popular culture. The 2001 movie Donnie Darko takes place in Middlesex, Va. and the character Frank, a scary man in a bunny suit, is said to be based loosely on the Bunny Man.
